It is, as others have said, not an old file, nor an uneeded file. It is the binary interface file for the Flash player plugin. Not to be mean to said submitter, but isn't anyone reading these things for simple inaccuracy, anymore?

This is not the site as I recall it in past years. I am certainly no expert in flash, but I tried this hint and Safari is running much faster for me. The past few months have been a sluggish nightmare on pages with flash, especially the first-daily visits of certain sites. Flash would hang for 5 to 15 seconds while I watched the spinning wheel, causing my blood pressure to increase. Now those hesitations are gone, flash is still working so far , and I feel more relaxed without seeing the spinning wheel : I don't care if flash does not always work.

Changing the file name caused me to open both flash apps instantly with no delay! Appeared to me there were some pretty knowledgeable folks weighing in. Wouldn't life be great if removing this scripting support only gets rid of those Flash cookies Local Shared Objects and does not prevent the actual usage of flash? To me, the hidden Flash privacy abuse alone is a reason to hope for alternatives. However, during some testing I did, disabling these cookies seemed to make some Flash sites load a lot slower, or not load at all. Odd: choosing " Always deny " would not start flash on some sites, but using " Always ask " for the very same site would actually make the flash start when the " This makes me wonder if scripting was involved, so if I can find those sites again I will certainly experiment a bit!

Flash on the mac feels different than on the PC, it's slower and uses far more CPU, not just when loading and it's always been that way, so I recommend trying to avoid it instead of fixing it. Clicktoflash is the best way right now IMO. There is very little softwarewise that you can do on a mac that will have such an impact on performance systemwide, especially if you use a lot of tabs and like to keep the browser up for as long as possible.

Ever since I upgraded to Mojave all the text when I open to go on the Internet appears as question marks. I am using a Mac OS10 Operating system. I have a Mac Desktop computer. Close that Preference window and then quit Safari. Restart your Mac and open Safari again—see if words now show up instead of question marks. Restart and check. Restart and again check.
